Cyprus Strengthened Eligibility for Passport Programme

PUBLICATIONS / Articles / 2019 / Cyprus Strengthened Eligibility for Passport Programme
The Cypriot government has issued new regulations regarding the eligibility of its program to attract investors to the island country, restricting applications who have been rejected by other EU countries with similar policies.

The updated rulings also require successful applicants to contribute towards affordable housing programmes, and research and development programmes with a more direct benefit to the economy. These amendments are in addition to the enhanced policies which saw a cap on the annual limit of 700 passports issued under the programme.

The overall changes to the Cypriot programme are a welcome update to the programme, bringing it in line with global compliance and regulatory standards.
